What it does
1ML is a public search and statistics site for the Lightning Network. It lets you look up nodes by public key, alias or location, find channels and compare network capacity over time. Its Bitcoin mainnet pages are available without an account, with separate routes for Bitcoin testnet and Litecoin.
Find the node behind a name
The search box accepts a node public key, alias, IP address, channel ID, block height, location or postal code. The directory and location pages offer other ways into the same network data.
Statistics separates node count, channel count and Bitcoin capacity. It also reports node and channel age, average capacity and fee distributions. A JSON link is provided for the statistics view.
Follow changes without confusing the measures
Trends lists capacity and channel-count increases and decreases over 24 hours, seven days and 30 days. For example, you can compare whether a node added more channels or increased the capacity of its existing connections. These are different changes, even when both appear near the top of a ranking.
1ML says its totals are approximations gathered from multiple Lightning nodes. Nodes that do not broadcast their state are excluded. The figures therefore describe the network visible to 1ML, rather than a complete view of every private connection.
Strengths
- Search accepts node identifiers, channel IDs and geographic terms
- Trends separates capacity changes from channel-count changes
- Statistics includes a JSON output link
Watch out for
- Nodes that do not broadcast their state are excluded from the reported totals
Best for
- Lightning operators checking public node visibility
- People comparing changes in the observable Lightning network
