What it does
3Dfindit is a CAD and BIM component library for business design work. Registered users can search manufacturer catalogues, choose variants and download native or neutral files free within a 50-ticket daily fair-use limit. Supplier and project-use conditions apply to the data.
Keyword and catalogue browsing sit alongside sketch search. The image-input option creates a text description with AI; it is a different route from drawing a shape to find similar parts. In the AirTAC catalogue, an order-number or type-code field and filters for units, file types and markets narrow the selection. Choose a component variant and an offered native or neutral format, such as STEP, for layout, collision checking or documentation in a CAD application.
Some manufacturers also provide an Asset Administration Shell, a package of product information such as technical data and CAD content. The written download guide says to select a component, click CAD download and choose the shell in the format dropdown. Availability depends on what the manufacturer supplies.
Downloads require registration and accurate user and company information. The linked terms restrict the database to business or qualifying public-sector users aged at least 16, and define fair use as 50 download tickets per day. Supplier access to usage data is part of the service's stated model.
The rights clause permits sharing retrieved data with partners or workshops for a concrete project, or with a client as part of a contract design, provided their use remains within that purpose. Storage in a product-lifecycle system is allowed when technically needed for normal design work. Systematic collection into a new database, general redistribution and AI-model training are restricted. Copyright and trademark notices must remain; separately attached Creative Commons licences govern the data they cover.
Strengths
- Type-code and sketch searches offer different ways to find components.
- Catalogue filters and component variants support CAD part selection.
- The terms expressly allow specified project handoffs and normal design-related product-lifecycle storage.
Watch out for
- Registration, business eligibility and a daily download-ticket limit apply.
- General asset redistribution and systematic library building are restricted.
- Available formats and product-information packages depend on the manufacturer.
Best for
- Business CAD teams finding and configuring supplier components
- Design projects needing manufacturer geometry and scoped partner handoffs
