What it does

7shifts is a restaurant people-management platform covering scheduling, hiring, training, employee communication and pay-related tools. Availability and time off inform shift planning, with additional options for labor costs, tips and team operations.

Start with the location, department, role and week you want to schedule. Select an employee's day, enter the shift times and role, then save. Check availability and overtime warnings before publication. Draft shifts remain hidden from employees; if someone is missing from the schedule, check their department and role assignments in the team profile.

Publish Schedule lets you choose which departments or roles to release and whether to notify everyone, only people with changes, or nobody. Managers need schedule-management permission for the relevant locations and departments. A partly published schedule can still contain drafts, so check the selected scope before assuming the whole week is visible.

An employee also needs to accept their account invitation before viewing shifts, making requests or receiving notifications. Use Team and Invite Employees to send invitations to new or pending members. An unaccepted invitation expires after five days and can be resent.
