What it does
A2-TYPE designs retail font families and commissioned typography. Its catalog includes text, display, condensed, monospaced and stencil designs.
The A to Z index is a useful way into A2-TYPE's catalog because it shows family names beside their weight and style ranges. The Independent system includes text, sans, slab and stencil companions. Open Independent Sans to move between those relatives, compare its weights and italics, inspect the character set or request a trial.
The Buy section separates the complete family from individual styles. Select the fonts and the intended use before adding them to the cart: print counts users, web counts monthly unique visitors and asks for a domain, while app/ePub, social advertising and logo use have their own choices. Packaging and signage need a bespoke agreement.
Trial files retain kerning but have only basic letters, numerals and a few punctuation marks. They cannot be shared with clients or placed on local or cloud servers. A finished logo needs its own licence, and the logo must be supplied with the letters converted to outlines rather than with live font files.

- Retail designs can be complemented by custom type work.
Watch out for
- Logo, social advertising and other uses can require licenses beyond desktop installation.
Best for
- Editorial type systems
- Identity projects with coordinated type across media
