What it does
ABN AMRO provides Dutch personal banking through its website and app, including transfers, card limits and address changes. Own-name accounts are accessible through the same banking relationship, while another person’s account needs explicit permission. The paid Basic Payment Package and free eligible Student Package both include digital banking.
A debit card in your name gives access to accounts held in your own name. To manage somebody else’s account, that person must grant permission through the bank’s account-access process. Sharing a household does not add access automatically.
Internet Banking also handles changes to your address and debit-card limit. For the package attached to your account, go to Self service and then Manage my products.
Moving from the e.dentifier
The ABN AMRO app can approve browser login. Customers who only use an e.dentifier are being invited to use a security key instead, with invitations scheduled between June and December 2026. Until invited, they can continue using their existing device. The key is a USB device used with an email address and PIN, so that route does not require a smartphone. It costs €10 initially; an extra or replacement key costs €25. Ordering requires the bank’s personal invitation.
Account costs and eligibility
The Basic Payment Package costs €4.30 monthly for one current account, one debit card and digital banking. An additional debit card costs €1.50 monthly. The Student Package has no monthly charge and includes its account, debit card and online banking. It is for students aged 18 through 24 with a registered Dutch address who receive their student loan, vocational or work compensation, or study allowance into the account. Optional credit cards and insurance carry separate charges.
For a personal account, select Open account in the app. The standard app route requires adulthood, an official home address in the Netherlands, accepted identification and Dutch tax liability. The application checks your identity and personal details. With a non-Dutch passport or ID, proof of Dutch residence must be approved before you can use the account.
