What it does

ProConnect is the cloud preparation product in Intuit’s professional tax range for US accounting firms. Its Accountant Suite connection brings client books into the tax workflow, and Intuit Sign handles document signatures. Filing requires paid User Access and return purchases, sold separately or in bundles.

Moving from books to a return

Within Intuit Accountant Suite, Work > Tax > Tax Prep opens the preparation tool powered by ProConnect. Built-in checks flag entries needing attention. Intuit Sign includes document signatures and authentication; preparers remain responsible for choosing signature methods accepted for each form.

What a purchase covers

ProConnect offers these annual bundles:

Bundle Included individual returns Users
Essentials 50 50 1
Essentials 100 100 1
Plus 200 2
Advanced 400 Multiple users

All states are included with those returns; business returns cost extra. Return credits belong to a particular tax year and cannot move to another Intuit account.

Pay-per-return purchasing also requires User Access: $210 per user for the calendar year, or $2,100 total for firms with at least ten users. Bundle prices and discounts depend on the purchase and eligibility, so obtain the applicable total from Intuit. The new-customer trial permits preparation but excludes printing, e-filing and features requiring User Access.

Reviewing and sending a return

An IRS-issued Electronic Filing Identification Number must be registered with Intuit before e-filing.

In the return's Profile, add the states and select the filing agencies. Complete the return, then inspect federal and state Diagnostics under Check Return. Critical errors block electronic filing. After obtaining the required taxpayer signatures, use File Return to select the returns and send them.

The E-File Dashboard shows subsequent acceptance or rejection. Transmission alone is not acceptance.

Strengths

  • QuickBooks data connects to preparation through Intuit Accountant Suite
  • The filing dashboard retains status history and rejection details

Watch out for

  • Paid User Access is required in addition to return purchases
  • Business returns are extra in the listed individual-return bundles
  • The trial excludes both printing and electronic filing

Best for

  • US accounting firms preparing client returns from QuickBooks books
  • Multi-preparer practices managing filing checks and acknowledgements online
