What it does

Adobe Acrobat combines PDF editing, document conversion, OCR, page organization, and electronic signature requests. Its document tools are available across desktop, browser, and mobile editions.

Acrobat separates free Reader viewing from paid editing plans. Standard covers editing, organisation, conversion and signatures; Pro adds OCR, comparison and redaction. For a distribution copy containing sensitive text, use Pro's Redact a PDF tool, mark the material and apply the redaction. The save flow can also sanitize hidden information. A visible annotation over text is a different operation. Choose the plan around that required workflow rather than assuming Reader includes every Acrobat feature.

Strengths

  • Combines content editing, OCR, and signature tracking in one product family.

Best for

  • Preparing documents that need both editing and signatures
