What it does

Adobe Dimension is a desktop application for arranging models, materials, graphics and lights into rendered images. It supports packaging and product compositions, with native scenes retaining editable material and camera choices. Annual Creative Cloud Pro and business subscriptions include Dimension.

Place artwork by dragging an image onto a model or choosing File > Import > Place image on model. In Properties, use Decal for a local graphic such as a label, or Fill for an image prepared for the model's UV layout or a repeating pattern. Select the image to move, rotate and scale it with the surface controls; each layer has its own opacity, roughness and metallic settings.

For a photographic background, add a camera, assign its background image and choose Match image in the Action panel. Image Aspect Ratio preserves the canvas's longest side, while Image Size adopts the photograph's dimensions. Automatic perspective matching is available only when Dimension detects enough perspective information. Review the generated lighting and alignment before rendering.

Rendered-image outputs include layered PSD and PNG. Use File > Save As to retain the whole native scene: exporting selected models omits scene and environment settings. CPU ray tracing runs on Windows and Mac; GPU rendering requires supported NVIDIA hardware on Windows. Apple ARM support is through emulation.

The US product page offers Creative Cloud Pro at US$69.99 per month, with an annual commitment billed monthly. Its business card is US$99.99 per licence per month on the same billing basis. These are multi-application plans that include Dimension.

Strengths

  • Decal and Fill modes suit different graphic-placement needs.
  • Match Image offers separate canvas, lighting and perspective controls.

Watch out for

  • Automatic perspective matching depends on usable perspective cues in the photograph.
  • GPU rendering is limited to supported Windows/NVIDIA configurations.

Best for

  • Packaging mockups with applied artwork
  • Product compositions using photographic backgrounds
