What it does
AEON Bank is a Malaysian digital Islamic banking service with Savings Account-i and goal-based Savings Pots. The app combines budget limits, transaction tracking, DuitNow transfers and QR payments with JomPAY bill payments. Customers activate a new savings account with a transfer of at least RM1.
AEON’s local payment routes are specific: DuitNow handles transfers and QR payments, while JomPAY handles bills. Payment alerts and the transaction view help follow spending, and the Zakat workflow provides digital receipts.
Budget categories can have spending limits, with notifications when the target is reached. Savings Pots separate money for goals, so the same app can hold a bill-paying balance and amounts reserved for later. Card settings include spending limits and lock or unlock controls.
Opening Savings Account-i
Begin in the AEON Bank app, enter personal details and open Savings Account-i, then activate it with a minimum RM1 transfer. The product’s eligibility starts at age 18. It accepts Malaysians and specified Japanese AEON employees who meet its residence or work-permit conditions.
Savings Account-i follows Islamic banking contracts and pays profit monthly. It provides electronic statements and a linked Debit Card-i, without a cheque facility or passbook. Closing before the monthly profit-payment date means that profit is not paid.
Closing within three months of activation costs RM20. An account with no activity for 12 months becomes dormant; the terms provide for service charges or closure of a small remaining balance. These charges are separate from the RM1 opening deposit, which is money placed in the account.
