What it does
Disabled And Here is a disability-led stock-image and interview project centring disabled Black, Indigenous and other people of colour. Its free photos and illustrations use Creative Commons attribution licensing.
Browse themes such as Community, Life and Nature, or use tags for subjects including accessible kitchens, ASL and wheelchair users. Image pages describe the scene and identify participants or the illustrator. Gallery wall, for example, links the people shown and provides a direct photo download. Some illustrations, including On a video call, also offer a vector file.
Credit photographs to Disabled And Here; illustrations use the named artist followed by “for Disabled And Here.” The CC BY 4.0 licence also requires a licence link and an indication of changes. A social caption, website credit or end-credit section can keep that information with the image.
The project says photographed participants have signed model releases covering use in any media under its attribution terms, excluding pornographic or defamatory purposes. Its usage guide generally prefers identity-first wording such as “disabled person.”
Strengths
- Image descriptions and participant links add context to the photographs.
- Selected illustrations include downloadable vector files.
