What it does

AfterShip Returns gives merchants a branded portal for returns, exchanges and store credit. Rules determine eligible items and how requests are grouped. Paid subscriptions sit alongside Return Care, a shopper-funded option offered through its Shopify app.

Keep incompatible items out of one return

Open Return policy > General > Eligibility rules. SKU limits and total quantity limits are separate controls.

For warehouse-based grouping, first create routing rules using mutually exclusive SKU, tag or product-type conditions. Then enable Limit products per return request and choose products meeting the same routing-rule conditions. Items that match no routing rule can be returned together.

Use Manage to add blocked or allowed entries, individually or by CSV. An allowlist overrides other eligibility restrictions, so check those exceptions before relying on a block.

Shopify plans and costs

Prices are USD. Recurring monthly-option charges are billed every 30 days.

Plan Monthly option Annual total Included returns
Return Care Free software; shopper-funded returns Same funding model Confirm program terms
Essentials 19 192 20/month; USD 0.50 per extra return
Premium 119 1,188 100/month; USD 1 per extra return
Enterprise Custom quote Custom quote Agreed allowance

Essentials includes automatic approvals, labels and eligibility rules. Premium adds advanced workflows, fraud controls and warranty management. Return Care advertises Premium features with AfterShip-handled labels and revenue sharing; shoppers fund the return program.

Create a merchant account and verify its email, or use Google sign-in. Set your return window, reasons and resolutions, then preview the portal and test a return. This merchant account is separate from the shopper's return request.

Strengths

  • Routing conditions can keep items for different warehouses in separate requests
  • SKU and quantity limits can be set independently

Watch out for

  • Allowlisted entries bypass the other eligibility restrictions

Best for
