What it does

AfterShip Tracking provides shipment dashboards, branded status pages and delivery notifications. A merchant account is required, with paid subscriptions and limited continuing free access. The Shopify Free offer covers fifty shipments each month.

Plan Selected capabilities
Free Shipment dashboard and basic branded tracking page
Essentials Adds store branding and milestone notifications
Premium Adds custom-domain pages, detailed analytics and API/webhooks
Enterprise Custom integrations, organization management and onboarding

Paid plans include shipment allowances with additional-use charges. Shopify's Free listing specifies fifty shipments a month; paid pricing and trial duration depend on the signup route. Direct registration offers a fourteen-day trial without a card. Verify the email address and complete the company details to finish setup.

For Enterprise users handling UPS returns to sender, open Settings > Shipment tracking and enable Auto-import shipments returned with new tracking number under Return shipments. In Tracking dashboards > Shipments, add Has return shipment: Yes to find the linked forward parcels. Open a parcel to see its return journey, or export the filtered list. The feature supports UPS only and consumes quota for imported returns.

Test-carrier shipments also use quota. Their tracking numbers work inside AfterShip, not on carrier websites. Customer-initiated returns use a separate returns workflow.

Strengths

  • Branded pages and milestone notifications share delivery information with shoppers
  • UPS return-to-sender journeys can link to their original shipments

Watch out for

  • Test shipments consume the shipment allowance
  • Automatic separate-number return tracking is limited to Enterprise and UPS

Best for

  • Merchants managing delivery updates and return-to-sender exceptions
