What it does

Airwallex brings business currency balances, supplier transfers, company cards and expenses into one financial platform. Teams can control card spending, collect receipts and connect transactions with accounting software. Plans and eligibility vary by the business’s registration country.

Airwallex is designed around business money moving across currencies and teams. Receiving accounts sit beside supplier payments, company cards and expense records, so incoming revenue and outgoing spending can be administered together. Card limits and freezing controls help allocate spending without giving every employee full account access.

U.S. plans

Plan Monthly price in USD Main distinction
Explore $0, up to 10 active Spend users Currency accounts, cards, expenses, bills and QuickBooks/Xero connections
Grow $12 per active Spend user plus a team-size platform fee Conditional approvals, purchase orders, automated card-freezing rules and additional accounting integrations
Accelerate Custom pricing Multiple-entity administration, direct Spend API integration and dedicated support

A Spend user includes someone who submits, approves or pays relevant expenses or bills, not just a cardholder. Grow permits up to 250 such users. Transactions can incur separate charges; U.S. FX pricing adds 0.5% above interbank rates for major currencies and 1% for other currencies.

Country pricing differs. In Australia, Explore is A$29 monthly unless qualifying deposits or balances waive the fee. Select the country of the legal entity before comparing costs.

Applicants generally need an active, properly registered business in a supported jurisdiction. Some markets accept sole traders. The list includes the United States, UK, Australia and Slovenia, with different Airwallex entities handling different countries. Registration and business review are required before using the account.

For a finance team, the useful distinction between plans is the approval process: basic card limits are different from conditional bill and expense approvals. Match those controls to who requests purchases, who approves them and who reconciles the resulting records.

Strengths

  • Currency accounts, card controls, bills and receipt handling share one platform.
  • Accounting integrations carry bank, expense and bill records into established bookkeeping tools.

Watch out for

  • Paid Spend seats include active approvers and bill users as well as cardholders.
  • Registration country affects pricing, eligibility and the service entity.

Best for

  • Businesses collecting and paying in several currencies
  • Finance teams assigning card budgets and expense-approval responsibilities
