What it does
Aiven for PostgreSQL is a managed PostgreSQL service provisioned through the Aiven Console or Terraform. Its getting-started guide covers creating a service, connecting to it, and loading sample data. Pricing includes a limited free tier and several paid service plans whose availability and resources vary by provider and region.
Create a PostgreSQL service in an Aiven project, select a tier, and wait for its status to become Running. Then use Quick connect to retrieve the client instructions, connect with a PostgreSQL client, and load the documented sample dataset. Terraform is an alternative when service creation belongs in infrastructure code.
The Free tier is deliberately constrained: it does not let you choose a cloud provider or region, and the pricing page lists no integrations or connection pooling on Free and Developer tiers. Plan availability also varies by region. Those limits make Free useful for learning the connection flow, but check the exact service plan and region before depending on a capability such as a specific integration.
