What it does

Akar Icons is a rounded icon library by Arturo Wibawa. Its MIT-licensed React package supports individual imports and controls for size, color, stroke width and inline styles.

Akar’s React package has a short setup: install akar-icons, import the components you need, and render them in your interface. The documented names include ArrowRight, Star and LinkOut.

A component defaults to 24 pixels with a stroke width of 2. Its color is currentColor, so it follows the surrounding text unless you override it. For example, a Star component can receive size={32} and strokeWidth={3} when a larger, heavier symbol fits the control. A style object supplies other inline CSS.

The main package is for React. The project also links its icon-font repository and community implementations for Svelte, web components, Laravel Blade and Flutter. Those are separate integration routes, so use their own instructions when working outside React. Akar’s MIT terms permit commercial projects and require the notices to accompany distributed copies.

Strengths

  • Individual imports and appearance props keep React usage concise.
  • Text color carries through automatically via currentColor.

Best for

  • React interfaces using rounded icons.
  • Products with a shared icon size and stroke style.
