What it does

Akeneo manages product information for commerce, including data collection, catalogue structure, enrichment and distribution. Families group the attributes shared by related products, while completeness requirements determine which values are needed for a particular channel and locale.

A family template can speed up the first Akeneo catalogue, but it does not define completeness for you. Templates bring attributes, labels and a main-picture choice. They omit completeness requirements and family variants, and supply labels only in US English.

With the required account permissions, open Settings > Families > New family. Choose Select template, pick a suitable family and use the template, then set its code and label and create it. Review the attributes before using the structure for your catalogue.

In the family's Attributes tab, turn the circles beside required channel attributes into checks and save. Akeneo recalculates completeness. The percentage measures filled required values for a particular product, channel and locale. A furniture listing can therefore have different requirements for a shop and a partner catalogue. Open the product's completeness panel to find missing fields.
