What it does
Alibris is a marketplace for independent sellers of books, music and movies. It includes new, used, rare and collectible items, with title, author, ISBN and advanced-search routes.
Alibris is useful when the required book is more specific than a title alone. ISBN search offers a direct route to an edition, while advanced search and rare-book categories support a less straightforward query. The catalogue also separates textbooks, ebooks, signed books and first editions, with music and films alongside books. Begin with the identifier or edition requirement, then compare the individual seller's listing. The seller marketplace and textbook-buyback service are separate routes, so someone selling back a course book should use the buyback information rather than ordinary retail listings.
Digital editions need a separate check from used print copies. The ebook FAQ has a general 14-day return allowance with limits on how much has been viewed or printed, but several publishers set shorter windows or disallow returns. Rental access expires at the end of its term and cannot be extended.
