What it does
Alpha Vantage supplies market prices, company fundamentals, technical indicators and economic series through an application programming interface (API). Its free key allows 25 requests per day. Premium subscriptions raise capacity and provide access to paid datasets.
Start with one dataset
Claim an API key on the support page, then choose an endpoint from the documentation. The daily and weekly time-series endpoints take a stock symbol and your key. They can return JSON for an application or CSV for a spreadsheet.
A small end-of-day dataset may fit the free allowance of 25 daily requests. Premium removes the daily cap, although request-per-minute limits still depend on the subscription. Certain datasets are paid regardless of request volume.
For real-time or 15-minute-delayed US market data, Alpha Vantage directs subscribers to complete data entitlements in Alpha X Terminal under Data. A paid API key alone does not finish that step.
