What it does

Alzex Finance groups household income and expenses by categories, family members, payees and tags. Local files can be shared through synchronization across Windows, Mac, iOS and Android. Paid licences follow a 30-day trial; user access restrictions and the activity log belong to the Pro edition.

A category tree can distinguish a broad household cost from its smaller parts, while family-member and payee grouping provide other ways to inspect the same spending. This is useful when the question is who incurred a cost as well as what it was for. Local records remain available offline.

The first launch opens a demonstration database. To replace it with your own, choose File, New, give the file a name and save it. Then select the currencies you use and create accounts and categories. Financial databases are separate files, so keeping a backup through Save As does not require creating another online household.

Sharing a household file

Enable automatic synchronization in the settings, then send a copy of the database to the other household members. File, Save As creates that copy. Devices need the same file name and sync account; Sync now can request an update when changes have not appeared. Cloud backup is a separate option from synchronizing changes. Enabling it keeps file copies from the previous 30 days.

The editions separate everyday shared tracking from individual access permissions.

Edition Included scope
Home Budgets, reports, scheduled entries and cloud sync
Family pack Four Home licences
Pro Home features plus user permissions, an activity log and extra transaction fields
Office pack Four Pro licences

A household wanting different editing permissions needs Pro. Basic file sharing does not include those controls.

The trial lasts 30 days, followed by a paid subscription. The purchase supplies an activation key by email; on Mac or mobile, the I have an account button accepts that key. Each licence is valid for one device, and using the same key on another device cancels its previous activation. Internet access is required to activate it.

Strengths

  • Category trees, family-member grouping and payees provide different views of the same spending.
  • Local files work offline and can synchronize changes across household devices.
  • Pro adds user permissions and an activity log.

Watch out for

  • Access restrictions and the activity log require Pro.
  • A licence is tied to one active device, so sharing across devices needs enough licences.

Best for

  • Households wanting a detailed category tree and shared finance file
  • Families that need Pro’s different user permissions
