What it does

Amadine is vector drawing software for Mac, iPad and iPhone. It combines freehand paths, variable-width strokes, reusable shape libraries and image tracing. Mac lifetime licences are available directly, while mobile access offers monthly, yearly and lifetime in-app purchases.

Give a vector line its weight

The Draw tool combines freehand pencil and brush drawing. With Width, drag a handle to change a stroke’s weight along the path. Custom libraries store recurring shapes, making them useful for a related set of illustrations or decorative elements.

Amadine imports SVG, PDF and AI files, plus common raster images. On Mac, File > Export opens a format selector and Export Scope for the whole document, chosen sheets or selected objects. SVG and PDF retain vectors; PNG, JPEG and TIFF provide raster output. EPS export is unavailable on macOS 14 and later.

Choose the licence for your device

The direct Mac store offers single-user and five-seat family lifetime licences. Mobile purchases offer monthly, yearly and lifetime choices. Mac App Store licensing includes subscriptions as well as lifetime access.

Current releases require macOS 11 or later, or iOS and iPadOS 15 or later. The support page provides separate documentation for desktop and mobile controls.

An unlicensed Mac copy can be used for drawing, but exporting, printing and image tracing are disabled. A purchase code is entered through Amadine > License.

Strengths

  • Stroke width can be adjusted directly on the path
  • Custom libraries retain reusable vector objects
  • Export can isolate one sheet or selection

Watch out for

  • The unlicensed Mac copy cannot export, print or trace images
  • EPS export is unavailable on macOS 14 and later

Best for

  • Artists drawing expressive vector lines
  • Illustration series built from recurring shapes
