What it does
Kindle+ is Amazon’s monthly reading subscription, previously called Kindle Unlimited. Eligible books can be read on Kindle devices or supported Kindle apps.
Up to twenty eligible books can be borrowed at a time without a normal library due date. Access lasts while membership remains active; cancelling does not turn borrowed titles into purchases. Amazon Prime membership does not include Kindle+.
Check the local Kindle+ catalogue before joining. Amazon lists multiple supported country stores, while its publisher guidance currently restricts Kindle+ audiobook distribution to the US marketplace. Reading through an app means a dedicated Kindle device is optional, but the book and audio selections still depend on the relevant market.
Strengths
- Supported Kindle apps work without a Kindle device
- Multiple books can be borrowed concurrently
Watch out for
- Borrowed titles require active membership
- Publisher guidance limits Kindle+ audiobook distribution to the US marketplace
Best for
- Comparing Kindle subscription reading with individual purchases
