What it does

Ambient combines several liquidity styles inside shared token pools. Full-range positions remain active at every price, while concentrated positions operate within chosen bounds. Knockout positions provide directional execution that locks once the entire range has filled.

A knockout position is similar to a limit order, but its partial fills can reverse. The conversion becomes fixed only when the pool price passes through the entire small range. After full execution, claim the position to receive the converted tokens and accumulated fees. This distinction matters if the goal is a one-way exchange.

The main app offers Swap, Trade and Pool, with Connect Wallet for access. A swap can fix either the input or output amount. Its slippage setting caps the acceptable input or minimum output, and settlement can use the external wallet or a prepaid surplus collateral balance held in the exchange contract. Routes may pass through several pools.

For a liquidity position, choose the pair, full-range or concentrated type, deposit amount and maximum slippage. Concentrated positions also need lower and upper price bounds. They stop earning swap fees while out of range and can lose value relative to simply holding the original token mix.

Pool charges adjust with market conditions through an external policy mechanism. Fees earned by concentrated positions are reinvested as full-range liquidity.

Strengths

  • Wallet or prepaid contract-balance settlement
  • Input-fixed and output-fixed swap amounts
  • Filled knockout positions lock the completed conversion

Watch out for

  • Partially filled knockout positions can reverse
  • Concentrated positions stop earning fees outside their range
  • Pool fee rates change with market conditions

Best for

  • Wallet users comparing full-range liquidity with active price ranges and directional positions
