What it does
amroc models acoustic room modes, with a rectangular-room calculator and a Pro workflow for more complex geometry.
amroc calculates rectangular-room modes in the browser; Pro uses server-side finite-element calculations through openCFS for shaped spaces. In Pro, drag the plan corners, enter a height and inspect the 3D model before requesting modes. Crossing walls make the geometry invalid, and at least three corners are required. A side cross-section can model an angled ceiling or floor by using the height field as width, provided the remaining side walls are straight and parallel. The first five modes are a free preview; a full calculation is paid. Select a frequency line to inspect its pressure zones. The server requests a mode count rather than an exact frequency range, using room volume and estimated reverberation time to target fₛ × 2^(1/3). Commercial use of the free tools requires business-user support through Patreon.
Strengths
- Mode distribution and pressure-zone visualization
- Separate routes for rectangular and shaped spaces
Watch out for
- Basic calculator is limited to rectangular rooms
- Commercial use of the free tools requires business-user support
Best for
- Exploring low-frequency room-mode behavior
