What it does

Boxshot is product and packaging visualization software with customizable shapes, material controls and rendering tools. It supports objects such as books, boxes, bottles and cans, along with imported models, batch rendering and animation options. A demo is offered.

Boxshot builds a scene from adjustable product shapes and artwork prepared in another graphics application. For a box, drag in a shape, drop front and side images onto its faces, then use Fit to images to match the dimensions. Camera and aspect-ratio controls set the presentation before rendering. Save the project to produce another angle without rebuilding the package.

Draft renders let you inspect placement and reflections before spending time on the final image. Registered output reaches 16384 × 16384 pixels; the evaluation version stops at 1024 pixels. Save transparent scenes as PNG or TIFF, since copying a render to the Windows clipboard may lose transparency. Batch jobs and animation support repeated product views.

The current purchase options have the same feature set: an annual subscription or a permanent licence. A subscription stops working when it expires; a permanent licence keeps the purchased version, with one year of updates and support included. Licences are per user. Windows 10 or newer and supported Intel or Apple Silicon Macs are listed, with 32 GB RAM recommended for ordinary work and more for complex scenes.

Strengths

  • Customizable shapes and imported models support varied packaging.
  • Batch rendering and queued jobs support repeated product views.
  • Transparent-background output can be reused in layouts.

Watch out for

  • High-resolution rendering takes longer, and complex scenes can require substantial memory.
  • Subscription access ends when the licence expires.

Best for

  • Packaging and marketing teams creating several product variants
