What it does
GNOME Calculator switches between basic arithmetic, advanced functions, finance, programming and conversion tasks.
GNOME Calculator switches between basic, advanced, financial, programming and conversion modes on Linux. Enter expressions in mathematical notation and press Enter or equals; multiplication and division precede addition and subtraction, with parentheses changing the order. Advanced mode adds complex numbers and trigonometry. Its Rad/Grad/Deg toggle or Preferences sets angle units, so the same numeric angle needs the intended setting. Financial mode provides present-value and depreciation functions, while programming mode handles bases and bitwise operations. Conversion mode covers units and currencies.
Strengths
- Distinct scientific, financial and programming modes
- Unit, currency and number-base conversion
Best for
- Moving between everyday arithmetic and specialized calculations
