What it does
KGet is KDE's download manager for FTP and HTTP or HTTPS sources, with pause, resume, pending-transfer details and Metalink support.
Drop a URL onto KGet’s window or drop target, add a new download, or import a transfer list. Groups can suggest different output folders, with configurable speed limits, retry counts and reconnection delay. The handbook also documents exporting selected links to a .kgt list for later import and accepting Metalink files with mirrors and checksum information. Automatic checksum or signature verification is an option to enable, rather than a guarantee supplied by every source. KGet is GPL-licensed for Linux/KDE, with Konqueror integration and a separately configured web interface that requires a username and password.
Strengths
