What it does
Internet Archive provides digitized books and a borrowing system for eligible lending titles. Borrowing uses an account and can involve loan periods or waitlists.
Find the book’s current access status before expecting immediate reading. The lending help explains how to borrow and manage a loan, which differs from freely downloading an unrestricted text. Titles can have different rights and borrowing conditions, so inspect the individual item rather than treating the whole archive as one open book collection.
One-hour loans are browser-only. Some fourteen-day loans also offer encrypted downloads for an LCP-compatible reader such as Thorium or Cantook. A waitlist is offered for eligible fourteen-day loans, not for a title limited to one-hour borrowing.
