What it does
ares is an open-source multi-system emulator with native platform interfaces, save states, display controls and a stated accuracy-and-preservation focus.
Check whether the system you want is marked experimental before choosing ares for daily play. Save states and rewind can help inspect a difficult section, while the compatibility list keeps expectations specific to the emulated system. Experimental support is not equivalent to a fully supported console.
Strengths
- Several systems in one native interface
Watch out for
- Some emulated systems are explicitly experimental
Best for
- Comparing several retro systems in one emulator
