What it does

ARKIVAL is a design-asset archive with mockups, PSD effects, graphics and textures. It offers individual purchases and subscription access. The former Format Mockups address now redirects to this broader archive.

ARKIVAL separates mockup photography from PSD effects, vectors and scanned textures. The Heavy Load Box Set 26, for example, shows branded packing tape on a box at 4160 × 6240 pixels in a Photoshop file. An emboss effect elsewhere in the archive instead changes the appearance of inserted artwork. Those files serve different stages of a project.

Retail purchases arrive through a PDF containing the download link. Mockups use PSD layers and Smart Objects, and Photoshop is required. A subscription adds unlimited downloads while active, with one registered user by default. Downloaded assets can remain stored after cancellation, but their original licence restrictions still apply.

Standard rights cover personal and in-house work and client presentations, not final commercial client use. Commercial MINI allows one project with narrower client permissions; MAX expands to client websites and paid campaigns. For retail orders, one added commercial licence covers eligible assets in that same purchase. Neither a subscription nor a larger collection automatically supplies those commercial rights.

Strengths

  • Mockup files expose software, dimensions and download size.
  • One retail commercial licence can cover eligible assets in the same order.

Watch out for

  • The default licence does not cover final commercial client work.
  • Subscription accounts are single-user unless a different arrangement is agreed.

Best for

  • Designers choosing between presentation scenes and image treatments
