What it does
Astroport offers token swaps through constant-product, stable and passive concentrated-liquidity pools. The web application simulates an exchange before wallet approval. Pool design affects both the trading charge and how a liquidity position responds to price changes.
The swap page has two useful controls beside the form. One sets slippage, the acceptable deviation before the transaction fails; the other opens a split view with charts. Choose the tokens from the dropdowns and enter an amount to obtain the simulated receipt. Confirm Swap leads to signing in the connected wallet.
Expert mode skips the separate transaction-detail confirmation. Keep that setting in mind when comparing a normal review screen with a shorter signing flow. A submitted wallet transaction still needs confirmation before the exchange is complete.
Pool fees differ. Constant-product pools charge 0.3%, while stableswap pools charge 0.05%. Passive concentrated-liquidity pools use variable charges determined by their configuration. The governance body can adjust fees, so inspect the pool behind the route.
For liquidity providers, the passive design adjusts the price level around which assets are concentrated. It uses recent trading prices and accumulated fees to decide when to move that level. A fast market can move away before the adjustment is justified, temporarily worsening execution. Automatic adjustment also leaves exposure to changes in the relative value of the two tokens.
Strengths
- Swap simulation before wallet signing
- Chart split view beside the swap form
- Several pool models, including automatic concentrated-liquidity adjustment
Watch out for
- Pool designs have different fee rules
- Expert mode skips the separate detail confirmation
- Automatic liquidity adjustment does not eliminate relative-price losses
Best for
- Wallet users comparing swap routes and passive liquidity-pool designs
