What it does
Confluence is Atlassian's team documentation and knowledge workspace. Its wiki use-case page describes flexible pages, embedded content, spaces for organizing information, search and AI summaries, page-level permissions, and collaboration through shared editing, comments, and mentions.
Organize a shared source of truth by space
Confluence gives teams a wiki structure in which pages can be organized into spaces for a group, product, project, or knowledge base. The product page describes a rich set of page content, embedded resources from other tools, search suggestions, and permissions that help control who can see information. Teams can also edit together in real time or asynchronously and discuss a page with inline comments and mentions.
Confluence now combines wiki pages with live docs, whiteboards, databases, and Atlassian's AI features. This breadth makes it useful for teams that want documentation within a collaboration workspace, but may be more than a wiki-only deployment requires. The product and wiki pages were read; no Confluence workspace, search, or page permission was tested.
