What it does

Atom bank offers UK app-managed savings accounts, mortgages and business lending. Its Instant Saver has no account charges, no required opening deposit and unlimited withdrawals through a connected UK current account. It is available to UK residents aged 18 or over; fixed-term savings have different access rules.

What Instant Saver lets you do

An Atom Instant Saver can be opened with £0. You can add or withdraw money through one connected UK current account in your own name. It does not accept salary payments or pay household bills, so it serves a different job from an everyday current account.

There are no charges on Instant Saver. Interest is variable and paid monthly; the account view shows the applicable rate. Atom makes monthly and annual statements available in the app’s Vault.

Set up through the Atom app

Download the app, register your ID and complete identity verification. Open Instant Saver, then provide the sort code and account number of your UK current account. The account is for one person only, with one Instant Saver allowed per customer.

Atom also offers fixed-term savings. Those products have their own funding and withdrawal conditions, which differ from Instant Saver’s access.

Strengths

  • Instant Saver can be opened without an initial deposit.
  • Monthly and annual statements are available in the app Vault.

Watch out for

  • Instant Saver is limited to one sole account per customer; joint accounts are not available.
  • Instant Saver cannot receive salary payments or pay bills.
  • A verified UK current account in your name is needed for external transfers.

Best for

  • People reviewing an app-based UK savings service
