What it does

Avast Secure Browser is a free browser with ad blocking and integrated privacy and security controls for desktop and mobile platforms.

Avast Secure Browser is designed to put browsing controls in the browser itself. Its product page groups security, privacy and ad blocking together and describes integration with Avast's antivirus range. That can suit an existing Avast user who wants the browser controls alongside the wider security software.

The browser download is advertised as free and is available for PC, Mac, Android and iOS. Pro is a paid upgrade. Its VPN and blocking options depend on the platform: the mobile FAQ distinguishes a Free browser-only route to one automatic location from Pro location selection and device-wide routing. On desktop, Privacy Guard offers several blocking levels; Strict can stop some sites loading. Choose the edition and settings for the device you use.

The desktop product policy separates local browsing history from information processed by Avast. It lists a subset of URLs and referrers for WebShield with thirty-six-month service retention, plus event and device information with purpose-specific periods. When you use Avast ID for Sync, the policy says Avast receives encrypted data it cannot read; disabling Sync triggers deletion within three months. These desktop rules should not be assumed to cover every mobile feature.
