What it does
Awaken brings wallet and exchange histories into crypto reporting workflows for individuals and businesses. Its free Minnow account includes portfolio tracking and a capital-gains preview but no report exports; paid annual plans start at $99 for 300 transactions.
Awaken’s review process begins with the accounts that may be missing. On the Accounts page, the orange suggestion link opens potential wallets identified from your transaction history. Inspect the transactions and add a suggested wallet only if you recognize it as yours.
Next, use the red notification dot on Transactions to reach high-priority entries. In Taxes, clicking a monthly bar in the capital-gains or income chart opens the transactions behind that total. This gives a practical route from an unexpected number to the records that produced it. Apply corrections, then use Recalculate when it turns orange on Transactions.
Labels change how the software interprets sent and received assets. For example, a direct staking deposit and an exchange for a receipt token represent different structures. Review Needs Review entries against the actual activity, and choose settings appropriate to your jurisdiction; an automatic classification is not a legal conclusion. Edit History lets you select previous changes and undo them if a correction was mistaken.
Allowances and exports
Minnow’s comparison table lists 100 transactions and no tax-report downloads. Fish is $99 per year for 300, while Dolphin starts at $199 for 1,000 and rises through larger allowances. Pricing counts the current tax year, and Awaken says annual access does not charge again automatically. Full-service bookkeeping starts separately at $3,000 per year.
A paid current-year subscription also unlocks earlier years’ reports. In Taxes, select the desired year, generate the relevant report and refresh after processing to download it. Keep the complete historical imports even when buying access based on a recent year’s activity, because earlier purchases can still explain later gains.
