What it does

Awesome Screenshot captures full webpages, adds annotations and records screen-and-camera explanations. Its browser extension can save locally, while an account provides cloud storage and sharing. The free allowance is a storage limit, with paid subscriptions adding features and capacity.

Local files and cloud limits

The Free plan stores up to 100 screenshots and 20 recordings in your cloud account. Those are total stored items, not monthly allowances. Download and remove older items to make room. Local screenshots have no count limit.

Free and Basic cloud recordings can run for up to six hours, but only recordings up to one hour can be downloaded and edited on those plans. Local recordings are limited to five minutes each when you are signed out or use Free or Basic.

Capture a page

Click the extension icon, open Capture, choose a capture option, add annotations, then select Save or Done. If still images are your main task, set Capture as the primary tab in Options. The service also offers Windows, Mac and iOS apps, and lists Google Drive, Trello, Slack, Asana and Jira connections.

Paid monthly and yearly subscriptions renew automatically by default. Individual subscribers can change this under Settings > Billing with Cancel Renewal or Resubscribe. Your uploaded content remains yours, and you must have the rights to record and share it.

  • Cloud and local saving have clearly different allowances.
  • Capture can be made the extension’s default tab.

Watch out for

  • Free cloud storage holds 100 screenshots and 20 recordings in total.
  • Free and Basic cloud recordings longer than one hour cannot be downloaded or edited.
  • Signed-out, Free and Basic local recordings stop at five minutes.

  • Teams exchanging annotated webpage feedback.
  • People who need short local recordings without a service account.
