What it does
The Australian War Memorial provides collection photographs, documents, film and sound. Its copyright guidance distinguishes Memorial-owned, government-owned, third-party and expired-copyright material.
Collection search includes photograph, film, art, sound and digitised-material filters. A Memorial-owned website image generally carries the stated noncommercial Creative Commons licence unless marked otherwise. Material licensed to the Memorial by someone else does not automatically carry permission for public reuse.
For a reproduction, open the collection item and choose Order a copy. The ordering guidance asks for a format, size, billing and delivery information; contact the sales team when the button is absent. Image options include TIFF scans at different resolutions, while film and audio use their own delivery formats. A web thumbnail does not guarantee that a high-resolution master already exists.
The standard reproduction turnaround is 30 business days after payment, including digital downloads. Commercial or public-display uses can involve additional usage fees, and high-quality reproduction charges can apply even when copyright has expired.
