The advertised interest rates have qualifying conditions. Axos ONE, for example, links its higher rate to incoming deposits and an average checking balance. Its limited promotions also have balance caps and an end date. Compare those requirements with how you actually receive and keep money before choosing a bundle.

Managing routine payments

Bill Pay can schedule automatic payments. Account activity alerts can arrive by text, push notification or email, and person-to-person payments use a mobile number or email address. These tools put recurring bills and payment notices beside the account history.

Axos’s online-opening guide calls for an adult legal U.S. resident with a Social Security or taxpayer identification number, contact details and identity verification. Select the account, complete the application and follow its funding instructions. Teen banking has a separate First Checking route with parental controls.
