What it does
Ballet sells non-electronic cryptocurrency storage cards and coins. A companion app reads balances and prepares supported transfers, while the physical product holds the two secret components used to access its funds.
Ballet's card has no battery, chip or firmware to update. It is a physical bearer product: protection of the card and its secret material is central to keeping control of the assets. The standard Cold Storage Wallet is listed at $49; finishes, bundles and other product types have different prices. The companion app does not require account registration.
Before the first deposit, inspect the tamper-evident areas and check that all three serial numbers match. The private-key and passphrase areas should be intact. A damaged or partly exposed area is a reason to stop and consult Ballet's guidance before using that card.
Choose the correct deposit address
- Tap Scan in the app and scan the card's public deposit QR code. The printed address is for the card's primary coin.
- For another supported asset, choose Add more coins or tokens, search by name or contract address and tap Activate.
- Select that asset under Receive to obtain its address. The printed address should not be reused indiscriminately for other tokens or networks.
Sending requires the two concealed components. The guide first has you choose Send, select the asset and enter the destination and amount. It then uses the passphrase material under the scratch-off area and the private-key material beneath the removable QR sticker. Keep the yellow layer containing the private-key material intact. Review the transaction before SEND NOW; blockchain confirmation follows submission.
The app offers third-party purchase and exchange routes alongside these wallet functions. Provider charges and network fees are separate from buying the physical card.
Strengths
- The physical card needs no charging or firmware maintenance
- The app can activate deposit addresses for additional supported assets
Watch out for
- Anyone obtaining both secret components can gain access to the funds
- The printed deposit address is for the primary coin, not every supported asset
Best for
- People who prefer physical bearer storage to an electronic signer
- Gift recipients who need clear deposit-address and first-use instructions
