What it does

Bancontact Pro helps professionals in Belgium accept mobile payments through its app, QR stickers and integrated tills. Customers can pay with Bancontact Pay or supported bank apps, including Wero payments through the service. A merchant account is required, with an annual service fee and transaction charges for direct contracts.

Collect a payment on your phone

After the app account is accepted, activate it from the email invitation and sign in on iOS or Android. Enter an amount and optional reference, show the QR code and wait for the successful-payment confirmation. The transaction then appears in the daily overview. Several staff devices can be linked without sharing one login.

The app can show a QR code on screen or use a physical sticker. Switching on the sticker preference stops the on-screen code from appearing. The same app functions are available through a desktop browser.

Connect a till or invoice

The integrated solution can display a code on a customer screen, sticker or receipt and return confirmation to the till. Invoice codes carry the amount, description and payment reference. That combination must be unique, or the code can be treated as already paid. Existing Payconiq-based integrations need to follow the current payment-URL migration instructions.

Direct-contract charges

The standard annual account fee is EUR 18 excluding VAT. In-store payments generally cost EUR 0.06 each excluding VAT; online payments are listed at EUR 0.20 each. A third-party payment provider sets its own charges. Opening an account involves business information and identity checks.

Strengths

  • The app can take payments without a separate payment terminal
  • Integrated tills can separate incoming payments by cash register using Bulk IDs

Watch out for

  • Direct contracts have an annual account fee as well as transaction charges
  • Invoice QR codes need unique amount, description and reference combinations

Best for

  • Belgian professionals taking mobile payments at a counter, on visits or from invoices
