What it does
Barnimages is an independent stock-photo library run by photographers. Its own licence permits free personal and commercial project use while retaining copyright and restricting standalone redistribution and products whose main value is the photograph.
Barnimages permits ordinary editing and delivery of finished client work. A photograph inside a brochure or website follows those project-use permissions. Supplying the original image file inside a template for sale requires separate permission.
The same distinction applies to merchandise: using a photograph in a broader design differs from selling a print or product whose value is the photograph itself. Barnimages retains the photographer’s copyright and does not grant ownership of the downloaded image.
Strengths
- The licence distinguishes finished client work from standalone image distribution
Watch out for
- Image-led merchandise and certain template-file distribution require separate permission
Best for
- Designers placing independent photography in finished client work
