What it does
Basilisk is an independently maintained UXP/Goanna desktop browser that retains XUL extensions, optional legacy plugins and user-controlled extension installation.
Basilisk is a deliberate legacy-workflow choice. Its feature page keeps XUL extensions and optional NPAPI plugins and says extension signing is not enforced. That gives users control over older tools, while making extension trust a decision they must take themselves.
The browser is maintained independently of Pale Moon's team even though it shares the UXP/Goanna lineage. Use it for a defined compatibility requirement and inspect the extensions you install rather than treating legacy support as a comparative security advantage.

- Retains specialized XUL extension workflows
- No mandatory browser cloud account
Watch out for
- Extension signing is not enforced
