What it does
Baymard Institute organizes ecommerce UX research into guidelines, annotated examples and benchmarking tools. Topics follow shopping tasks, including navigation, product discovery, checkout and account management. Public articles are free; research-platform subscriptions differ substantially in guideline and industry coverage.
Baymard’s topic structure helps narrow an ecommerce question. Open a research theme such as Product List, On-Site Search or Cart & Checkout to find relevant guidance. Guidelines are organized by component and use case, with implementation examples and research context. The Figma integration brings guidelines into a design workflow, while benchmarking and review tools support comparisons.
Research access
| Plan | Included users | Coverage |
|---|---|---|
| Foundation | 3 | 150 foundational guidelines for homepages, navigation, categories, product lists and product pages |
| Expansion | 3 | More than 400 selected guidelines, additional journey areas and partial research access for three industries |
| Enterprise | Custom | Broader guideline and industry access, expert consultations and custom comparisons |
Foundation and Expansion are billed annually, and extra users cost separately. Use Talk to Sales or Book a Consultation for access. A free demo is a guided walkthrough, while public research articles remain available without a subscription.
Paid access continues until the end of the billing period after cancellation. A downgrade also takes effect at the billing-period end. Human-led UX audits are a separate service with pricing tailored to the organization.
