What it does
Bento4 is an open-source C++ library and tool suite for MP4 files and related adaptive-streaming formats.
Choose the command-line tool for the job: mp4info reports tracks and codecs, mp4dump exposes box structure, and mp4fragment makes a fragmented MP4. For delivery, mp42hls creates segments and an M3U8 playlist, while mp4dash can make DASH and an optional HLS playlist from MP4 sources.
Bento4 also supplies a C++ library for integration. Encryption and decryption are separate tools and workflows, and the project uses a dual-licence model, so review the relevant documentation and licence before embedding it in a product.
