What it does
BeyondTrust Password Safe is an enterprise credential-management product with password and secret workflows, version history and cloud or on-premises deployments.
Password Safe's current release documentation describes a credential lifecycle beyond simply saving a login. It covers onboarding, rotation and retrieval, with version-history and access-workflow changes in the wider product. Before automating a privileged account, identify the systems that depend on its credential and who can approve a change. The release notes include specific restrictions for existing cloud secrets, a reminder to evaluate the actual credential type rather than assuming every record can be onboarded identically.
In 26.2, the session manager also requires a password for configuration or data export/import. The release notes warn that automation relying on the previous default-key behavior fails after the update, so include those scripts in upgrade planning.
