What it does
CAIDA BGPStream is an open-source framework for retrieving and analyzing historical or live BGP routing data.
BGPStream acquires routing records for a chosen time window instead of requiring a manual search through every dump file. Its BGPReader command-line tool, installed with libBGPStream, filters by project, collector and record type and can emit bgpdump-compatible output for another analysis program. More selective examples filter peers, prefixes and communities. Record the feed and time boundaries: these are announcements seen by the selected collectors and peers, not proof of every route or successful packet forwarding. Real-time and historical modes belong to the same framework, with Python and C/C++ interfaces for larger analyses. The project describes the framework as open source.
