Bing Webmaster Tools

Bing Webmaster Tools is free, with a Microsoft, Google or Facebook account required. After signing in, select Add a Site and enter the website URL. Verify ownership through Domain Connect where available, a verification file, a homepage meta tag, a DNS TXT record or an already verified Google Search Console site.

Once verification is complete, use URL Inspection to check a representative page's indexing status, response and crawlability. Site Scan provides a broader technical review. These tools help distinguish a blocked or faulty page from a page that is accessible but attracting little search traffic.

Keep search clicks separate from AI citations. AI Performance counts references to site pages across supported Microsoft and partner experiences. It does not show a page's rank or placement inside an individual answer. Its Grounding queries are sampled phrases used by AI systems to retrieve cited material.

For a content review, select a cited page and inspect its associated phrases, then check whether the page clearly answers the relevant question. The citation timeline helps choose pages to investigate; crawl diagnostics address whether Bing can discover and process them. Neither a sitemap submission nor a rise in citations guarantees a search outcome.
