What it does
Bitfinex combines cryptocurrency exchange trading with margin trading, lending and separate derivatives services. Its fee schedule lists zero maker and taker execution fees, although funding and bank transfer costs remain. Access requires an account and an appropriate verification level; US persons and Ontario customers are excluded.
Zero execution fees, with other costs to consider
Bitfinex currently lists zero maker and taker fees for spot, margin and derivatives execution. This does not remove borrowing interest or transfer charges. An ordinary bank-wire withdrawal costs 0.1%, with a minimum of USD 100 or EUR 100; other bank-transfer routes have their own charges.
Which verification level is needed?
Basic Access is view-only. Basic Plus enables exchange trading, crypto transfers and OTC trading, subject to token restrictions. Newer accounts need Intermediate for margin trading and funding. International bank transfers need Full, while the OpenPayd euro and sterling route is available from Intermediate.
Use the account Verification page to see the documents required for the chosen level. The international bank-transfer minimum is USD 10,000, EUR 10,000 or GBP 10,000, so that route has a substantial entry threshold.
Bitfinex prohibits US persons, including US citizens and permanent residents, and no longer serves Ontario customers. Its wider terms and token restrictions also apply. Crypto and leveraged positions can lose value quickly; a zero execution fee does not reduce that market risk.
