What it does
Bitkit is a Bitcoin and Lightning mobile wallet with transaction tags, balance-hiding controls and home-screen widgets. Local wallet creation does not require a service account. Bitcoin held on-chain and money allocated to Lightning spending follow different payment and fee paths.
Bitkit's transaction tags help organize spending into recognizable groups. Home-screen widgets provide a separate glance at blocks, network fees or the Bitcoin price without opening the full wallet view.
To create a wallet, choose Get Started and then New Wallet. Record the recovery phrase. Advanced Setup offers an optional passphrase, which needs its own backup; Bitkit cannot retrieve a lost phrase or private key.
Connect a Bitcoin spending balance
The published spending guide excludes US and Canadian citizens and residents from Bitkit-supplied Lightning connections. The terms require users to be at least 18 and legally eligible. Confirm the connection route before funding.
The Bitcoin interface calls on-chain holdings savings and Lightning funds spending. Under Assets, choose Bitcoin and the two-way arrow. Quick Setup uses a slider to allocate the balance, while Custom Setup accepts separate amounts. Review the connection terms, swipe to connect and keep the app open until the channel is ready.
A supplied Lightning connection has costs of its own. Blocktank's charge combines the channel-opening mining fee with a liquidity charge based on the amount and duration; the published formula uses a 1% annualized rate. Routing fees can apply to later payments, including charges from other nodes. This is different from paying a fixed subscription for the wallet.
Hardware-wallet access can provide a view of longer-term holdings. A watch-only connection does not give the phone permission to spend from that device. The current terms also cover USDT or USDT0 on Arbitrum One where offered in the app; the Bitcoin balance instructions above should not be applied to those assets.
Strengths
- Transaction tags give activity recognizable categories
- A balance-hiding control keeps amounts out of the ordinary wallet view
Watch out for
- Lightning liquidity and network fees are separate costs
- Recovery depends on the user’s phrase and any optional passphrase
- A watched hardware wallet cannot be treated as a spendable phone balance
- Bitkit-supplied Lightning connections exclude US and Canadian citizens and residents under the published spending guide
Best for
- Eligible adults outside the guide’s US and Canadian exclusions arranging supplied Lightning capacity
- Bitcoin users organizing transactions and comparing local holdings with hardware-wallet views
