What it does

Board connects group consolidation with account mapping, intercompany checks and financial reporting. Its Controller Agent identifies missing mappings and differences for finance teams to review. Deeper journal suggestions require Board 15.1 or later; access is licensed and pricing is customized.

Board connects consolidation with the checks needed to prepare group reporting. Local accounts are mapped to the group's chart of accounts, currencies are translated and transactions between group companies can be eliminated. Controllers can follow the data behind the consolidated results instead of relying only on the finished report.

Its Controller Agent reviews financial packages and flags intercompany mismatches. Mapping checks locate local accounts without group mappings and missing cash-flow assignments. Collection logs show who supplied data and when, which helps trace an adjustment or locate a late submission.

Reviewing a difference

In Board 15.1 or later, the agent can rank intercompany gaps, investigate likely causes and propose a two-line journal for eligible differences. The controller reviews the proposal before loading it. It is a correction workflow with human approval, so a suggested entry still needs to fit the underlying transaction. Earlier versions do not provide this deeper analysis and journal-proposal capability.

Licences and user accounts

Board provides a customized quote. Access to a company environment depends on its licences and permissions.

An administrator can open the Users section, choose + USER, enter the person's account details, assign a licence and sign-in method, and set platform permissions before saving. With Board authentication, the invitation email asks the user to verify their address and set a password. A company can instead use its configured identity provider.

Permissions can separate people who build or change screens and models from those who view and work with the data. That distinction is useful when a group finance team maintains the consolidation model while local teams contribute their figures.

Strengths

  • Mapping checks expose missing local-to-group and cash-flow assignments
  • Collection logs help trace submissions and adjustments
  • Model-building and data-use permissions can be separated

Watch out for

  • Deeper intercompany analysis and journal proposals need Board 15.1 or later
  • Proposed journals require controller review before loading

Best for

  • Group controllers investigating consolidation differences
  • Finance teams coordinating reporting across subsidiary accounts
