What it does

Bold BI provides data connectors, preparation tools, interactive dashboards and embedding SDKs. Its Cloud, Managed Private Cloud and On-Premises editions offer the same analytical platform with different operating arrangements.

Bold BI connects business data to interactive dashboards that can be embedded in another application. Its commercial editions change who operates the service, with no per-user or per-viewer charge.

Edition Hosting responsibility
Cloud Vendor-operated shared infrastructure
Managed Private Cloud Vendor-operated dedicated environment in the chosen region
On-Premises Customer-operated Windows, Linux, Docker or Kubernetes deployment; supports offline use

For a new dashboard, choose Start from Scratch, name it and select Add and Design. Under Data Source > Create New, choose the database type, supply its connection details and connect. Drag a table into the data area and update the preview. Add a chart widget, then use Properties > Assign Data to place a numeric field in Values and a grouping field in Columns. Set its aggregation and finish with Publish As > Publish.

Commercial access is quoted and has a 30-day no-card trial. A continuing Community License is available for one embedded application while the organization meets the conditions: under USD 1 million annual gross revenue, at most five developers and ten employees, and no more than USD 3 million in outside capital. Government-funded organizations are excluded. It requires an account and an eligibility request; managed hosting is outside that free licence.

Strengths

  • Provides the same analytical platform across three operating models.
  • Includes native embedding SDKs and data-preparation tools.

Watch out for

  • Self-hosted deployment places hosting and updates with the customer.
  • Offline operation requires the On-Premises edition.

Best for

  • Software teams selecting an operating model for embedded business dashboards
